Task 2. Read the following passage and choose the correct answer to each of the following questions.
Students can prepare for further study or employment through different routes. Academic programmes often emphasize theory, research and broad subject knowledge. Vocational programmes usually combine classroom instruction with practice related to a particular occupation. Neither route automatically guarantees a job, and the better choice depends on a learner’s goals.
Academic study can develop analysis, writing and subject knowledge. Students may later need workplace experience to support the transition from study to employment. Internships, projects and entry-level training can help with this change.
Vocational students often spend part of their course practising hands-on tasks in workshops or simulated workplaces. This direct practice allows them to become familiar with procedures and equipment while receiving guidance. It does not remove the need for theory, communication or continued learning.
Both approaches can be useful. Learners should compare course content, entry requirements, cost, assessment and future options instead of assuming that one route is best for everyone.
